Birr GAA Notes Monday 5th October
Senior
Congratulations to Eoghan Cahill on his recent nomination for a PwC All-Star Award. Eoghan enjoyed a superb campaign with Offaly throughout 2026, and this nomination is a fitting recognition of his outstanding performances. It is a tremendous honour for Eoghan, his family and Birr GAA.
Eoghan will be joined at the All-Star Gala Night in the RDS by Ben Conneely of Sy Rynagh’s Hurling Club, who has also received a nomination. Congratulations to both players on their excellent seasons in the Faithful County.
Minor Club
The Minor hurlers secured their place in the knockout stages of the County Championship with a hard-fought one-point victory over Shamrocks in Round 6, winning by 0-20 to 1-16.
The U14 hurlers were narrowly defeated by SBK in their County Semi-Final, losing by a single point on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-15 after a tremendous effort.
Excellent work continues throughout the Minor Club, and sincere thanks are extended to all players, mentors, coaches and parents who support the ongoing development of our young hurlers.
Best wishes also to St. Brendan’s Community School, who recorded an impressive Leinster Senior Hurling League victory away to Coláiste Mhuire on a scoreline of 2-15 to 0-16.
Grant Heating St Brendan’s Park
It was an honour for Birr GAA to host both the Intermediate County Final and the Senior A County Semi-Final at Grant Heating St Brendan’s Park last Sunday. A large attendance enjoyed an excellent day of hurling, and the pitch was presented in superb condition, reflecting the dedication and hard work of the grounds team.
Congratulations and thanks to Neil Tierney and his team of stewards, the volunteers who operate the shop and lotto, and all those who give their time to ensure the smooth running of events at the club.
This Sunday, 11 October, Grant Heating St Brendan’s Park will host the Offaly Camogie County Finals. The HQ Physio B Final between Kilcormac-Killoughey and Tullamore throws in at 2.00pm, followed by the HQ Physio Senior A Final between Shinrone and St. Cillian’s at 4.00pm. All support would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming the teams and their supporters for what is a very special occassion.
